The decision to "reside" in La Giudecca turned out to be a good one.
People live here and work here. It is not as touristy as the main island. During my stay, it gave me an impression of the ordinary life in Venezia - and somehow took me back to reality - while the main island always gave me kind of the impression of being a huge theater setting, playing a romantic fairy tale - with all its narrow streets, without cars, only vaporetti; because of its astonishing beauty, and all its beautiful architecture, and all its art. All together it seemed to form a massive surreal labyrinth [beautiful, but surreal].
